Do you sell the Store-Logic code as software?
No. Store-Logic is an e-commerce engine that runs on our servers. We believe in the use of open-source software, but at the same time we have found over the years that most open-source and off-the-shelf ecommerce software is sorely lacking in features, support, and third-party integration. This is why we somewhat reinvented the wheel by deciding to build Store-Logic from scratch in 2002. Store-Logic is different because it is built using a very flexible framework called Fusebox. The framework lets us create completely custom commerce sites quickly, and as commerce technology and marketing (think search engines) changes, we are now able to adapt to those changes quickly. The code that runs the stores is centralized and called as a "black box" to run individual stores at their own domain, using highly optimized code and database design. For customers that wish to expand upon our code we have offered the source code under a special licensing agreement. This is very expensive. We would much rather to work with your developers to make sure that Store-Logic will work for your organization. The process of building web sites has become more sophisticated over the years, and it today takes an entire team to build a solid ecommerce web site. With Delaware.Net and Store-Logic behind your company, you have an entire team whose goal is to make sure that your store works just the way you want it to. We are very open to new ideas and features that will improve our software. In many cases, ideas or needs presented to us by our customers are built into the store at no charge if we determine that many of our customers will benefit from the new features. More specialized integration with your specific backoffice software such as billing and shipping systems can also be accomplished since our database developers are all on-staff. Call us to discuss your specific needs.
I have a custom-designed web site. How can I integrate it into Store-Logic?
We will help you to divide your existing layout so that we can wrap the store engine with your navigation, header, and footer includes. In most cases, your store will then exactly match your web site design. We are adding layout management features now so that soon you will be able to add your own header and footer code, as well as make changes to the CSS yourself. We are also working on a new interface specific to graphic designers and web designers so that they can launch their designs quickly. That interface will be online at http://www.ce.net. Can't I just use PayPal for accepting payments in Store-Logic?
Yes. PayPal support is included for free, so you can accept PayPal payments and your customers can also send credit card payments to your PayPal account from within your store. To make it work all you have to do is enter your paypal email address into the store administrator. I
accept credit cards at my business already. How does this affect my
online store?
If you already accept credit cards, then you have merchant services with your bank. This is great because you have the flexibility to accept cards through your store and run them manually at your terminal, or you can use a payment gateway service like Authorize.Net to have cards processed automatically through your web site. Keep in mind, however that banks charge higher rates for online and phone orders than they do for live transactions where you have possession of the physical credit card. An online transaction is similar to a phone order because you do not have the credit card in your hands. So naturally, the risk is higher for the card issuer and they charge higher rates. Typical online rates are slightly over 2%. Large brick and mortar businesses can get as low as 1.5%, but again, this is common for card-in-hand transactions at larger brick and mortar merchants, but its not a typical rate for online transactions. We have seen some of our very large customers create separate checking accounts and merchant accounts for the online portion of their business so that they do not jeopardize their low brick and mortar merchants rates in case they get a chargeback from an unhappy online customer. The risk of this for good merchants is low, but we recommend not using the same merchant account for both online and offline sales if you can help it. If you must only have one merchant account, then you need to be honest with your bank and let them know that you will be doing phone orders and online orders with that account. The need to setup merchant accounts for new online stores is why we resell PNC Bank merchant accounts. Call for more information. My
company offers dealer accounts. Can my dealers buy from us at their
dealer rates through a Store-Logic store?
Yes. Store-Logic is setup initially with four default levels of dealer discounts, and a VIP customer rate. You can customize these or add as many levels as you wish. Dealer discounts are percentage-based, and can be modified in seconds by you through the store admin. You can create unlimited additional dealer rates of your own too. I'm
concerned about credit card fraud, how did you address that?
On many levels. First off we use 128bit SSL security certificates which offers banking-level encryption for your transactions. Second, we've added a CSC code feature to Store-Logic which requires that your customers enter the CSC code from the back of their credit cards. Third, we encrypt card numbers on our systems and we do not store them for long periods of time. We have integrated the best payment processors like Authorize.Net who perform real-time risk analysis on the transactions as they are processed. How
does Store-Logic help me with search engines?
Many different ways. Our technology is designed to make your products come up higher in the natural rankings of search engines like Google® if you enter adequate product and category information. Search engines use a variety of information from your web site to determine what the content is. We know what most of these aspects are, and we have designed Store-Logic to take advantage of them. You can specify your own keyword phrases for each product and category, or you can let Store-Logic create these for you from your product descriptions. Dynamic URL cloaking will also help your site by making pages appear to be static to search engines. If you are truly serious about search engine marketing, then you MUST include a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign into your marketing budget. PPC is a system offered by the largest search engines (Google® and Yahoo®). Paid search has replaced code tweaking and banner advertising to create successful, targeted placement in search engines for your web site. Basically you bid on the phrases that you want to come up under, then you pay the search engines when customers click the link and visit your store. What is different now about this approach is that it is possible to track whether or not the person bought when they came to your web site. This is called "conversion", and we can take recent code offered by the search engines and embed it into your store to help you manage your PPC campaigns. Call us for more information if you have questions on how that works. Are
there other ways to market my site?
Most commerce engines do not
address search engines or sales channels. Store-Logic addresses both
of these needs better than other commerce engines. Shipping
fees are a major issue with my mail order business. How flexible and
accurate are the shipping functions?
You can calculate shipping costs automatically based on total ticket cost, flat rate, product weight, and much more. Custom rates can be entered for express shipping. The UPS and FedEx calculations are very accurate. We are now a UPS partner and we are adding their functionality to the engine now so that we can use the UPS XML gateways for time-in-transit, address verification, shipping calculations, and label printing. More information on those features will be announced on our web site. Do
you charge to enter products or take a cut of sales like Yahoo Stores
does?
No. Product insertion and editing is entirely free. Hosting fees are based on the number of products in your store. We do not take a cut of your sales, and there are no hidden fees. Need
