Paypal Standard
What it is:
This service uses your Paypal business account to take payments from customers using their credit card or their Paypal account. The customer is redirected to Paypal's secure site to send their payment information.
Who its for:
Web-only ecommerce store owners that don't already have a Merchant account, and who wish to have a simple way to accept credit cards while allowing their customers leave their store for payment. Also allows for customers to use their existing Paypal account for payment.
Setting it up:
To use this payment option, you must have a Paypal Business Account. If you do not have this type of account, you can click here to sign up.
To register your account with the store, add your Paypal Business Account email address on the Paypal Standard administration screen.
Follow these instructions to configure your store to use Paypal Web Payments Standard:
- If you do not already have a Paypal Business account follow the link above.
- Login to your store admin and go to the "Payments" section under the "Operations" Menu
- Make sure that the icon next to Paypal Standard API is green indicating that Paypal Standard is the active payment gateway.
- Click on the gear icon for Paypal Standard to view the Paypal admin screen.
- Enter your Paypal business account email address.
- When finished click "Update API". Your payment gateway is now ready to be used.
