Paypal Web Payments Pro
What it is:
This service behaves as a true payment gateway, so it is invisible to your customers. The service allows you to accept credit cards (amex, visa, MC, etc) and the transactions are automatically run without your customer needing a paypal account. This service is easy to setup quickly with PayPal, but the fees start at $30? per month, and approximately 2.3% for credit card transactions. Go here for more information.
Who its for:
Web-only ecommerce store owners that don't already have a Merchant account, and who wish to have a simple way to accept credit cards without having their customers leave their stores.
Setting it up:
To use this gateway, you must have a Paypal Web Payments Pro Account. If you do not have this type of account, you can click here to sign up.
IMPORTANT: Once Paypal has been set up, do not change these settings unless you are switching Paypal accounts. Entering invalid information here will cause the entire Paypal payment gateway to break and your store will not be able to take orders.
Follow these instructions to configure your store to use Paypal Web Payments Pro:
- If you do not already have a Paypal Web Payments Pro account follow the link above.
- Once your account has been verified, log in to your Paypal account and click on the "Profile" link at the top. In your profile section click on "Request API credentials". Record these credentials to enter into your store admin.
- Login to your store admin and go to the "Payments" section under the "Operations" Menu
- Make sure that the icon next to Paypal Web Payments Pro API is green indicating that Paypal is the active payment gateway.
- Click on the gear icon for Paypal Web Payments Pro to view the Paypal admin screen.
- Please enter the API credentials from step two into the boxes on this page. Be careful not to include any extra spaces or characters.
- When finished click "Update API". Your payment gateway is now ready to be used.
